Good Bye For Now...

It is with a heavy heart that I write this post. My thoughts and prayers are with my family as they prepare to lay to rest a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. My Uncle Boyd left his broken, mortal body this week to return to live with our Father in Heaven. This man worked hard and played hard. He genuinely loved his entire family, even little ole me, his niece. If we both happened to be in town at the same time, he took the time to be truly interested in hearing about my life. Not many of us do that anymore.

Growing up I spent many summers and school breaks in Rigby, ID with my grandparents. Uncle Boyd and his family lived just down the road so I was lucky enough to spend a lot of time with them as well. I remember him being tough, stubborn, ornery, and sometimes down-right scary. It was probably just the beard that I feared the most, because he was also the friendliest, most generous man you could want in your life.

When he bought his service station, we would stop in to fill up or to just say hi on our way to or from Rigby and he would always sneak us kids a candy bar or bag of M&Ms. He would say, "shhhh, don't tell your mom or your aunt." He taught me how to ride a snowmobile and he was so patient when I didn't want to drive too fast, or when I got it stuck in a snowbank or ditch, or even when I ran it into the back of the brand new snowmobile in front of me and broke the taillight.

You will be missed my dear Uncle.
