Stinky Chair Mystery Solved!

You might recall from my previous post that we had an unsolved mystery involving James' chair. Mind you, this is the chair that he is always sitting in. Hence the reason for Brooklyn's comment. So, when he noticed a strange odor that seemed to be coming from the chair, he became very irritated. He commented about it every night for about a week (that is how long we have noticed the odor). I told him that I would clean his chair but it would have to wait until this weekend. He grew impatient and decided to clean it himself last night. He pulled it apart and shampooed the whole thing. This then gave him a burst of energy, or a moment of insanity, and he decided to start cleaning the carpet. Well he opened the closet that we have all of the blankets and sleeping bags stored in to get everything picked up and refolded and the smell just about knocked us over. My thought was "oh great, one if the dogs got in there and threw up." No! It was the wool blankets that James bought for Tyler and him to take to the Boy Scout Klondike Derby. Tyler put them in that closet about a week ago. Those things STINK! I don't know how they slept in them. I guess when it is 10 degrees outside and you are sleeping in a snow cave, it doesn't matter what it smells like as long as it is keeping you from freezing to death. James also requested that I mention in this post that he even took the initiative to put them into a giant Ziploc bag and suck the air out with the vacuum. Way to go Honey! Too bad you didn't find the smell BEFORE you cleaned the chair and carpet, huh?

Out of the mouths of babes...

I snuck on to James' Facebook account and changed his profile picture to this one of him and Cinderella that we took at Downtown Disney. Brooklyn said, "Dad likes Cinderella, ooo, la, la!"
Later on when James finally got out of bed and realized what I had done to his FB, he sat in his chair to try to change it and said "why does this chair always stink?" Brooklyn piped up saying, "Well you are the one always sitting in it!" Exactly what I was thinking, but not brave enough to say out loud since he made the beating comment on FB.

This is just for you Minetta, enjoy!!

I cannot believe that we have just over a week left in February. We have been so busy trying to get caught up from being in Florida that I have not done a very good job of keeping my blog updated. So, here goes...

James and I got home on the 7th and he had to turn around and fly to Grand Junction, CO on the 9th. He returned on the 11th and left for Spokane on the 12th. He got home Monday afternoon and will be home until next Wednesday. He will be in Denver for a couple of days, home for a week, and then off to California for a week. After that, he is hoping to be home for awhile, well for more than a couple of days in a row at least.
I took a second job this last week with Interim Health Care. I am working in one of the local long-term care facilities as a home health companion. I am excited. It is one-on-one care with a single client. I am debating whether to stay on at Menards one day a week to keep my employment there, just in case this contract runs out sooner than anticipated.

Tyler went to Spokane with the Casper Children's Chorale to perform at the All Northwest Music Eduactors Conference. He has also been working very hard getting ready for his part in the upcoming musical Lil' Abner. They have one week until opening night. He is also currently looking for work for this summer. He needs to come up with $3,000 to pay for his trip to the Boy Scout National Jamboree. I think that he thinks his dad will just pay for it, but I told him that we would give him the loan and he is going to have to pay us back. I also added, "sucks to grow up, doesn't it?" He didn't find that very funny.

Kayla has been raking in the money. She has been babysitting for a few families from church. She also turned 12 a couple of weeks ago. Man I feel old! Kayla recieved first place on her science fair project. We put together a yeast experiment that was fun. She also informed me last week that she has chosen the university that she would like to attend: University of Cambridge. I sure hope that she makes it there. We talked about how important it will be to keep her grades up. She will need the scholarships!!

Sierra took first in Young Author's for 3rd grade and gets to go to district now. She is so excited. She wants to start making jewelry to sell. I think that she is feeling a little left out, because the older kids are making money. She also wants to start reading to the residents at the assisted living facility by the house. I was telling her how important it is to do community service, especially when looking at universities. They like to see that on applications. Since she wants to be a paleontologist, she will also need scholarships to help pay for school. Sierra is going in next week for oral surgery. Same surgery Brooklyn had last year. I don't know where they are getting their extra teeth from, but it is costing us a fortune to have them taken out. Then with braces and everything else. Ugh!

Brooklyn...what can I say about this child? She finally said hi to her principal last week. He has been trying to get her to say anything to him since the first day of school. He even made a point to let me know that she finally talked to him. She got her first rose from a boy in her class for Valentine's Day. He got roses for all of the girls in class. She thought that was pretty cool.

Freakishly COLD in Florida!

We would have to come to Florida during a cold front. The temps are about 20 degrees lower than usual. It froze here last night and is supposed to again tonight. The highs have been what the lows usually are. It has even been warmer in Wyoming than it has here. How sad is that?

Anyway, here are some more pictures. Enjoy!

Tag, you're IT!

So, I was tagged by my awesome cousin, who's blog I recently found. Anywho, I am supposed to post the 4th picture in my fourth photo album. It just so happens that the picture is one that Brooklyn must have taken. It is totally random and I love it. She takes awesome pitures of things that I would not even think to photograph. Hence, the reason for a pic of my shower door. Now I would like to tag everyone who reads this blog and who would like to participate.

Fabulous in Florida!
